Candidates square off in Peace Region debates tonight and Tuesday night

The candidates for the Prince George-Peace River-Northern Rockies riding are taking part in formal debates, as per a partnership between Alaska Highway News and the Dawson Creek and Fort St. John Chambers of Commerce.

Twitter users can engage with and follow the debates under a #PeaceDebates hashtag – Alaska Highway News is calling them ‘the only debates that give a tinker’s dam about the Peace.’

Alaska Highway New’s political reporter Jonny Wakefield will be moderating both debates.

Conservative candidate and incumbent Bob Zimmer, NDP candidate Kathi Dickie, and Liberal candidate Matt Shaw will be at both debates.

Green Party candidate Elizabeth Biggar and Libertarian candidate Todd Keller are unable to attend either debate – and Progressive Canadian Party candidate Barry Blackman does not appear to be attending either debate, though he has not confirmed or denied attending.

Candidates will gather at the Calvin Kruk Centre in Dawson Creek tonight, with the debate starting at 6:30 PM. Doors are open at 6:00 PM.

Tomorrow night, the candidates will be here in Fort St. John at the Lido Theatre, as the debate commences at 7:00 PM – with doors open at 6:30 PM.
