HUDSON’S HOPE, B.C. – Hudson’s Hope RCMP responded to 30 calls for service between February 22nd and March 21st.

Police wrote 68 violations and warning tickets, with 34 violations regarding speeding in the school zone along Beattie Drive.

Highway and road safety continues to be a major focus for the detachment. Especially with the numerous construction sites along Highway 29 heading to FSJ. Due to the many construction sites, there is a fluctuation of speed zones. RCMP will be monitoring these zones and posted construction side, and fines will range from $196 to $253 for speeding violations.

On February 28th, RCMP received a report of a break and enter plus theft from a worksite along the Kobes Creek FSR. Many items, including a red 2020 Polaris side-by-side and thousands of dollars worth of tools, were taken from within the building. Police are currently working on leads, and the investigation is still ongoing.

On March 4th, police were conducting speed enforcement in the Beattie Drive school zone when a commercial truck, with a large over-sized structure, was seen travelling through the zone and at one point caught an over-hanging commercial line, which resulted in the line snapping. After the truck was stopped and CVSE attended and investigated, the load was not within regulations, leading the company to be issued a fine.

On March 5th, RCMP was advised of a commercial truck traveling along Beattie Drive pulling down another over-hanging commercial wire due to the height of the load. Police located and stopped the truck, which turned out to be the same company as the previous day.

On March 18th, RCMP was conducting traffic enforcement and Beattie Drive for distracted driving, where several drivers were stopped and issued fines. A reminder that a distracted driving ticket starts at $368 with 4 points to your license.

Hudson’s Hope RCMP has also been receiving several complaints regarding COVID-19 violations for individuals and businesses. Police have been working alongside other provincial agencies governing and enforcing regulations and fines regarding COVID-19 related matters. When a complaint is received, an investigation is completed with either warnings or fines issued.
