Prince George Fire Centre says Tumbler Ridge ‘Bullmoose’ fire is under control

The fire burning about 30 kilometres away from Tumbler Ridge and Highway 29 is still burning but doesn’t pose any immediate threats, says the Wildfire Management Branch in Prince George.

“They went and looked at it yesterday, and there were no new smokes on it, so at this time there are no concerns. It didn’t move at all from where it was.” says Jillian Kelsh with the Wildfire Management Branch, based in Prince George.

Kelsh says some of the rain recently in the area helped prevent the fire from growing too much – it is now 5.6 hectares, only slightly bigger than the 5 hectares reported on the August 19th.

For the Peace Region, there is a moderate to high fire danger rating as of Thursday.

The fire is currently considered a modified response fire, due to dangerous terrain and a lack of safe accessibility.
