Fort St. John-born Heather Nedohin wins Canadian Women's Curling Championship
It was her first Canadian championship as a skip.
She was born and raised in Fort St. John as Heather Godberson and now lives in Sherwood Park, AB with her husband, three time World Champion David Nedohin. Her team just made it into the finals by beating Manitoba's four-time champion Jennifer Jones 6-5 in an extra end in the semi-final Saturday.
She and Beth Iskiw, Jessica Mair and Laine Peters will now represent Canada at the world championship next month in Lethbridge, AB. They'll also be eligible for $144,000 of Sport Canada funding over a two-year period, as well as $40,000 from Own The Podium to cover training and competition costs. They will also receive $10,000 for being sponsored by Kruger at the world championship.
Nedohin's team has also earned a berth in the Canada Cup of Curling later in 2012 and in the International Continental Cup of Curling in 2013.
