FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The Independent Investigations Office of BC (IIO) has identified witnesses and conducted interviews for the police-involved shooting in Fort St. John. 

According to a release by the IIO on July 14, the independent civilian oversight agency is continuing an investigation into a police-involved shooting that happened on March 29 in the city

The release said Fort St. John RCMP officers conducted a vehicle stop on a black Ford pickup truck at 3:15 a.m., near the intersection of 86 Street and 97 Avenue.

During the interaction, a weapon was reportedly involved and an officer discharged their firearm, which seriously injured the passenger, who was taken to a hospital. 

IIO was notified of the incident and started an investigation, which remains ongoing. 

The release said IIO has received several reports, including forensic analysis and the agency is waiting for additional medical information.
