Dawson Creek RCMP investigating after pair of bank robberies

Two bank robberies within a five-day span occurred at the Dawson Creek RBC and Scotiabank branches on 10th Street

DAWSON CREEK, B.C. — The Dawson Creek RCMP detachment is investigating after a pair of bank robberies in the city.

According to a press release by the detachment, police received a report about a robbery at the city’s RBC branch at 5:36 p.m. on Friday, June 19th.

A suspect wearing a black, full-face motorcycle helmet, black jacket, pants and gloves, with a ski mask and sunglasses underneath the helmet, came into the building on 10324 10th Street, allegedly brandishing a weapon and demanding cash.

Just a few days later, a second robbery occurred in the Scotiabank branch at 10204 10th Street at 11:06 a.m. on Tuesday, June 23rd.

A suspect wearing a gray long-sleeve shirt, a hat, black pants, a face mask, sunglasses, and black gloves also came into the building, allegedly brandishing a weapon and looking for money.

In both instances, the individuals made their escape via a scooter with an undisclosed amount of cash, with police unable to locate the perpetrators.

Staff Sergeant Kris Clark of the BC RCMP said police believe both instances were executed by male suspects, but no further descriptors are available.

“While the investigations remain in the early stages, police are working to determine whether there is any connection between the two cases,” said Clark.
