At the convention, the premier, cabinet ministers, ministry agencies, commissions and corporations’ staff will be available to meet with municipalities to discuss issues and initiatives important to the communities.

According to the report, staff recommended the council meet with the Ministry of Health to discuss the current state of mental health services and supports available in the Northeast region.

In addition, staff asked the council to meet with the Ministry of Transportation and Transit to talk about the condition of the Taylor Bridge.

Ryan Galay, the district’s chief administrative officer, said: “I would prefer to go in person if we’re attending in person.”

“I think that’s one of the benefits of UBCM.”

In addition, the committee considered meeting with the Ministry of Children and Family Development, the Ministry of Water, Land and Resource Stewardship, the Ministry of Social Development and Poverty Reduction and the Ministry of Housing and Municipal Affairs.

In the past, the council has met with the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Health.

According to the report, the deadline to request meetings with Premier Eby and cabinet ministers is June 24th.

In addition, the Provincial Ministry, Agency, Commission, and Corporation (MACC) staff will be available virtually only from August 31st to September 4th, which is a new approach by UBCM.

The deadline to schedule a meeting with MACC staff is August 5th.
