FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Below are the latest sentences handed down from the Fort St. John and Fort Nelson provincial courts between April 27th to May 1st. 

Fort St. John Provincial Court sentencing on April 27th

Jaydon Dominick Diblasio (born 2001)

Diblasio was found guilty of wilfully resisting or obstructing a peace officer and theft worth $5,000 or under on April 8th, 2026 in Fort St. John. 

They were sentenced to jail for 15 days, a jail-time-served sentence and a probation order for 18 months.

Tyrel Jordan Cooper (born 1998)

Cooper was found guilty of breaching a probation order on March 19th, 2025 in Fort Nelson. 

They were sentenced to jail time, which they have already served. 

Cooper was also found guilty of breaching a release order on January 30th, 2026 in Fort Nelson. 

They were sentenced to ‘jail time served,’ meaning the jail time Cooper accrued during their trial counts towards their sentence.

Fort Nelson Provincial Court sentencing on April 28th

Yvette Roxanne Burke (born 1971)

Reasonable grounds were satisfied for Burke for an incident on August 18th, 2024 in Fort Nelson. 

Burke was issued a $100 recognizance for 12 months following the allegation. If Burke fails to comply with the court’s conditions, they must pay $100.

Brittany Payou (born 1996) 

Payou was found guilty of breaching a recognizance on November 4th, 2025 in Fort Nelson. 

They were fined $200.

Shawn Andrew Murphy (born 1967)

Murphy was found guilty of assault on July 8th, 2024 in Taylor. 

They were handed a suspended sentence, where the accused is given conditions to follow, and a probation order of 12 months. 

Fort Nelson Provincial Court sentencing on April 29th

Dakota Nathan Joe Behn (born 1996)

Behn was found guilty of wilfully resisting or obstructing a peace officer on September 23rd, 2025 in Fort Nelson.

They were handed a suspended sentence, where the accused is given conditions to follow, a probation order of 15 months, and must pay $100 as a victim surcharge, which goes towards helping the victims of a crime.

Kurtus Ryan Matthew Dennis (born 1955) 

Dennis was found guilty of assault and assault with a weapon on December 15th, 2024 in Watson Lake. 

They were handed a conditional sentence, which is a sentence to be served outside of jail under strict conditions, sometimes called ‘house arrest,’ for a period of six months and a DNA order was made. Dennis was ordered to report for sample collection and must pay a $100 victim surcharge. 

Wing Kam Lau (born 1957) 

Lau was found guilty of failing to report required info within 30 days and hunting or taking or traping or wounding or killing wildlife out of season on September 1st, 2022 in Fort Nelson. 

They were ordered to pay $3,499 in restitution for a period of 12 months, which requires the offender to compensate the victim for financial losses suffered as a result of the crime. 

An order was made and they were asked to pay $1 as a fine and $0.15 as a victim surcharge. 

Lau was subject to forfeiture, which allows the government to seize property or assets ‘tained’ by crime. 

Steven Allan Leer (born 1983)

Leer was found guilty of fear of harm to an intimate partner or child on February 16th, 2026 in Fort Nelson. 

They were issued a $100 recognizance for 12 months following the allegation. If Leer fails to comply with the court’s conditions, they must pay $100.

Manuel Jacques Ribeiro (born 1992)

Ribeiro was found guilty of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm on June 24th, 2025 in Fort Nelson. 

They were handed a conditional discharge, which means the record won’t show a conviction if the person meets the conditions set by the judge, and an 18-month probation order. 

Ribeiro was also subject to forfeiture, a firearms prohibition for three years and must pay $100 as a victim surcharge. 

Fort St. John Provincial Court sentencing on April 30th

Brandon Jordan Allemeersch (born 1993)

Allemeersch was found guilty of uttering threats on July 9th, 2025 in Fort St. John.

They were handed a conditional discharge, a probation order for 12 months and must pay $100 as a victim surcharge.
