DAWSON CREEK, B.C. — A Dawson Creek roofing company has received a $5,000 fine from WorkSafeBC after its workers allegedly failed to use sufficient safety equipment while on an active job site.

On February 12th, 2026, WorkSafeBC handed the fine to Raptor Mountain Roofing.

WorkSafeBC inspectors said they saw employees of Raptor Mountain Roofing, while conducting work on the roof of a house, not using sufficient safety equipment.

Lifelines were not connected to the workers’ safety equipment, leaving them at risk of a fall greater than 10 feet, according to WorkSafeBC.

WorkSafeBC alleges this is a repeated and high-risk violation.

When contacted by Energeticcity.ca, Raptor Mountain Roofing confirmed it had received the fine but said it is currently in the process of appealing the decision.

Owner Chris Perez said: “There was a fall protection system in place, and all workers were wearing their harnesses. Two of the four workers were unattached to their ropes at the time of the inspection.

“We were verbally told by the WorkSafeBC officer that a warning would be sufficient, and no stop work order was issued.”

He said Raptor Mountain Roofing takes safety responsibilities “seriously and protocols are in place to ensure workers not only have access to, but use the necessary safety equipment at all times.”

This is not the first time the company has been fined by WorkSafeBC. The company received a $2,500 fine for a similar violation on January 14th of 2025.
