The Chetwynd General Hospital’s emergency department has closed overnight due to “staffing challenges.”

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Northern Health has announced an overnight closure of the Chetwynd General Hospital emergency department.
The Chetwynd General Hospital emergency department will be closed to the public from 1 p.m. on February 27th to 8 a.m. on February 28th due to “staffing challenges.”
In a Facebook post just before 2 p.m. on February 27th, Northern Health encouraged residents to call 911 for transportation to the nearest available medical facility if in need of life-threatening emergency care during the closure.
Those in need of non-life-threatening medical treatment are advised by the health authority to contact their primary care providers or the Northern Health Virtual Clinic at 1-844-645-7811.
This closure comes the same week as a five-day closure of the Hudson’s Hope Health Centre from February 24th to March 2nd.
