PRRD marks Pink Shirt Day with anti-bullying message
The Peace River Regional District is encouraging residents to stand against bullying this Pink Shirt Day 2026.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The Peace River Regional District (PRRD) is encouraging residents to stand against bullying as communities across the country observe Pink Shirt Day.
In a statement posted to Facebook on February 25th, PRRD board chair Brad Sperling said the day began with two students in Nova Scotia who chose “kindness over silence” in support of a bullied classmate, a gesture that has since grown into a worldwide movement.
“Today, on Pink Shirt Day, the PRRD joins communities across Canada in standing firmly against bullying,” Sperling said.
“It is a powerful reminder that how we treat one another really matters.”
The chair added the Peace region prides itself on fairness and integrity and that no one should feel unsafe or unwelcome.
“If you are experiencing bullying, know that you are not alone and support is available, please reach out,” Sperling said.
The PRRD also shared several support resources, including the 988 Suicide Crisis Helpline, Kids Help Phone by texting 686868, Youth in BC at 1-866-661-3311 and the province’s ERASE tool.
