Expanded hours, services to continue at Tumbler Ridge Health Centre

Northern Health has announced extended hours at the Tumbler Ridge Health Centre will continue “into the spring,” and it will become the “central location for mental health.”

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Northern Health has announced several changes to the Tumbler Ridge Health Centre covering mental health, primary care and expanded hours.

In a February 24th press release, Northern Health stated the health centre’s expanded hours would continue “into the spring,” with the centre becoming “the central location for mental health and primary care supports.” 

This will include services previously provided “at other locations in the community.”

“Services at the Tumbler Ridge Health Centre continue to be supported by nursing and Allied Health professionals from across B.C.,” Northern Health said. 

In addition to this, the health authority announced the Northern Health Specialized Community Services mental health supports and the BC Children’s Hospital mental health clinician team will be relocating from the Tumbler Ridge Community Centre to the health centre on February 25th. 

“These services are available 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., seven days a week including statutory holidays,” the health authority stated.

“The service extension is currently planned for a minimum of three months and may be extended.”

Free shuttle services connecting Tumbler Ridge to Chetwynd and Dawson Creek will continue to be offered for the community, running once a day starting February 24th.
