Dawson Creek restaurant to donate full day’s proceeds to Tumbler Ridge families

DAWSON CREEK, B.C. — A restaurant in Dawson Creek is dedicating a full day of business to support families affected by the recent school shooting in Tumbler Ridge.

In a Facebook post on February 12th, the local Browns Socialhouse announced all proceeds from February 23rd, including staff wages and tips, will be donated to support families impacted by the shooting on February 10th.

“On February 23rd, we’re standing with our neighbours in Tumbler Ridge,” the post reads. “Join us, dine with us, stand with them. Let’s show what community looks like.”

The restaurant is located at Unit 104 – 1100 Alaska Avenue in Dawson Creek.

Nine people, including the shooter, died in the incident at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School and a local residence, and 27 others were injured.

The BC RCMP have since identified the eight victims in a February 12th press release.
