Obituary – Marian Shirley Skaley (nee Stott)

DAWSON CREEK, B.C. — It is with much sorrow that we announce that our mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, spouse, neighbour and friend, Marian Shirley Skaley (nee Stott), formerly from Rycroft, Alberta, fell asleep in death at the Peter Lougheed Hospital in Calgary, Alberta, on February 1st, 2025, at the age of 88 years. While awaiting a heart valve replacement, she contracted the HRV virus during her hospital stay, which led to her passing.

Her last few years were spent travelling between Calgary, Alberta and Dawson Creek, B.C., where she enjoyed her time at her passion of building bird feeders and birdhouses, and of course making her special concoction of bird food for the feeders. Many of us were the recipients of her craftsmanship. She was always trying out different crafts, too. She loved to bake and cook, and generously gave away her goods to others to enjoy.

We miss her dearly.

There will be no funeral service, as per her request. Those wishing to honour her memory may make donations in her name to the Canadian Wildlife Federation, Ducks Unlimited or Hope and Healing.

May she rest on for now, until we meet her again at her resurrection in the near future.
