ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION NOTICE

Application for a(n) Approval Under The Provisions of the Environmental Management Act

We, PETRONAS Energy Canada Ltd. (“PETRONAS Canada”), at 1600, 215-2nd Street SW, Calgary, AB, T2P 1M4, intend to submit this application to the Director to authorize the discharge of air emissions from the use of an air curtain incinerator to burn the remaining clean wood waste from broken access matting used on PETROANS Canada wellsites.

The lands upon which the air curtain incinerator will be situated and the discharge will occur is 1/4 Unit c, Unit 55, P&NG Block K, Group 94-B-16 and 1/4 Unit c, Unit 66, P&NG Block A, Group 94-G-2 located near Pink Mountain, BC within the Peace River B Regional District. The lands upon which the air curtain incinerator will be situated and the discharge will occur is 1/4 Unit d, Unit 55, P&NG Block H, Group 94-B-16; 1/4 Unit b, Unit 78, P&NG Block E, Group 94-A-13; 1/4 Unit d, Unit 72, P&NG Block A, Group 94-B-16 and 1/4 Unit a, Unit 98, P&NG Block L, Group 94-A-13 located near Wonowon, BC within the Peace River B Regional District.

An air curtain incinerator is a pollution control device that reduces the particulate matter or smoke generated by burning wood waste. The maximum loading rate of clean wood waste burned in the air curtain incinerator will be 8,024 tonnes per month. The operating period for the air curtain incinerator will be conducted as per Section 28(5) of the Open Burning Smoke Control Regulation. The air curtain incinerator will be operated for 24 hours per day, 7 days per week for a period of up to 2 months discontinuously.

Any person who may be adversely affected by the proposed discharge of waste and wishes to provide relevant information may, within 30 days after the last date of posting, publishing, service or display, submit comments by email to the applicant (kbrown@petronascanada.com), with a copy to the BC Energy Regulator (waste.management@bc-er.ca). The identity of any respondents and the contents of anything submitted in relation to this application will become part of the public record.
