First proposals for pool replacement project revealed
The City of Fort St. John council will get a full briefing on proposals for the North Peace Leisure Pool replacement at its committee of the whole meeting on January 12th.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Residents have been given a preview of plans for a new pool in Fort St. John.
The City of Fort St. John council will get a briefing on proposals for the North Peace Leisure Pool replacement at its committee of the whole meeting on January 12th, but an overview of the general layout and proposed features for the first two phases of the facility was shared on Facebook by Fort St. John city councillor Trevor Bolin.
This follows October’s announcement of a proposed site at Parkwood Southlands, across from Naache Commons and Margaret “Ma” Murray Community School.
The proposed aquatics facility is designed to expand capacity and programming beyond the current North Peace Leisure Pool:
- An eight-lane, 25-metre lap pool
- One and three-metre diving boards
- A three-lane, 25-metre warm-water lap pool with accessible ramp entry
- A leisure pool with lazy river and zero-entry access, including two 15-metre lanes
- A hot pool with accessible ramp entry
- Sauna and steam room
- Waterslide and splash pad
- Universal, men’s and women’s changerooms
- Staff change room
- First aid room
Other spaces in the concept include an enhanced lobby and social area, cafe, public washrooms, spectator seating, meeting and multi-purpose rooms, storage, mechanical spaces and office space for lease.
The fieldhouse concept features a full-size indoor field that can be divided into half or quarter fields for various sports, along with spectator seating, change rooms, storage, leased office space and back-of-house areas for mechanical systems and field maintenance.
