Fulmer, a native of Australia, moved to Vancouver in 1992. He is an entrepreneur and philanthropist who is currently the chancellor of Capilano University in North Vancouver, according to a press release.

Fulmer ran in the 2024 provincial election, narrowly losing in the riding of West Vancouver-Sea to Sky to B.C. Green Party candidate Jeremy Valeriote.

In a statement, Fulmer said he wants to become party leader “because our province deserves real leadership and a chance to be the envy of Canada once again.”

“My children’s generation isn’t growing up with the same opportunities for success as my generation—and that’s unacceptable. I believe every British Columbian deserves real opportunity and the confidence that the future can be better than today,” said Fulmer in a press release.

The event will mainly focus on Fulmer answering questions from attendees, as the Conservative Party heads toward a vote on a leader to replace John Rustad.

Rustad resigned under heavy pressure back in December.

The party recently released details about its leadership election organizing committee on January 2nd.

The meet-and-greet with Yuri Fulmer will take place on Monday, January 12th from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
