These alerts are typically moderate, localized, short-term and are the most common.

Public Services and Procurement Canada’s (PSPC) road report for the Alaska Highway from kilometre 133 to kilometre 968 warns drivers of the snowfall based on the update from Environment Canada.

Over 10cm to 20cm of snow is expected on Thursday, December 18th lasting until midnight tonight.

Commuters are advised to watch for crews and equipment working on the highways.

Rough roads are expected at kilometre 178, and drivers are asked to watch for signs and slow down.

The report also advises people to watch out for bison and caribou between Highway 77 (kilometre 485) to Liard River and also between Liard River and Yukon border.

Drivers can expect single lane alternating traffic at Liard River Bridge at kilometre 762.

Motorists are advised to watch out for wildlife, drive with headlights on and reduce speed when passing crew and equipment.

This comes after Fort St. John saw more than 50 cm of snow so far this month, which is double the typical December average.

People who are looking for information or want to report a hazard or road condition can contact the PSPC office at 250-774-6956.
