He said: “In the past we generally had an older board, whereas this year, we have quite a few people under 40 on the board.

“What’s really exciting is just having a good diverse age range of people to speak to different target markets and bring different perspectives.”

On top of advocacy work, Sanchez shared the board will be splitting its focus for the coming year

He said: “Last year we had a really strong focus on advocacy and creating relevance for the chamber, and now the board feels we’ve done a pretty good job of that.

“Now the focus is going to be on networking and building community for small business owners, on top of advocacy.”

Vince van Wieringen, sales manager for Ideal Office Solutions, who will be moving into the past president role for the board, told Energeticcicty.ca, he will continue to work with the board as a mentor.

He said: “I will pass on my skills, my negotiations, my advocacy and help them continue to move in the right direction.

“My job this year is to be a mentor and make sure they have all the tools they need to continue to be successful in the chamber and to represent our economy and our local businesses through the North Peace.”

The Chamber of Commerce’s Creating Energy Northern Resource Conference will take place on April 21st, 2026 and it will be open to the public to attend. Register for the conference here
