Warning issued as up to 25cm of snow expected in Williston and Pine Pass
Snowfall accumulations of 15cm to 25cm are expected on the night of Tuesday, December 9th, before easing by Wednesday morning.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — As much as 25 centimetres of snowfall is expected in the Williston region and Pine Pass area on Highway 97 overnight.
In a December 9th weather advisory, Environment Canada said snowfall accumulations of 15cm to 25cm are expected on the night of Tuesday, December 9th, before easing by Wednesday morning.
“Road closures are possible,” said Environment Canada. “Visibility will likely be reduced at times.”
A section of Highway 97, between Kloss Road and Old Hasler Road (16km north of McLeod Lake to 23km south of Chetwynd), is currently under a travel advisory due to a risk of reduced visibility from wintry conditions.
The agency also warned weather in the mountains can change suddenly, resulting in hazardous driving conditions. Drivers are advised to turn on headlights, slow down and maintain a safe following distance.
Under Environment Canada’s colour-coded alert system, the advisory is considered yellow level.
Yellow alerts indicate hazardous weather that may cause damage, disruptions or health impacts. These alerts are typically moderate, localized, short-term and are the most common.
