Human remains discovered in burnt vehicle near Dawson Creek
Human remains have been found in a burnt out vehicle in Dawson Creek, and “all indications suggest that this is a homicide,” according to Superintendent Sanjaya Wijayakoon with the BC RCMP.

DAWSON CREEK, B.C. — An investigation into a burnt out vehicle in the Dawson Creek area has revealed evidence that police say suggests a “homicide.”
Officers with the Dawson Creek RCMP detachment put out a call for information regarding the vehicle — a silver 2005 Mazda 6 that was reported on Monday, October 13th — on the morning of Thursday, October 16th.
A few hours later, a new press release was issued saying human remains were discovered inside the vehicle. The RCMP’s E Division Major Crimes Unit has taken over the investigation.
“All indications suggest that this is a homicide, and police look to the public to help further the investigation,” said Superintendent Sanjaya Wijayakoon with the BC RCMP. “We are looking to speak to anyone that may have knowledge of this incident, or that had seen a grey 2005 Mazda 6.”
Officers are looking for information from anyone who was in the area of 251 Road and the Kiskatinaw River near Dawson Creek in the days leading up to October 13th, and anyone who saw the vehicle.
