FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — A local restaurant is running an initiative that allows residents to exchange a clothing donation for a discount on their meal.

Browns Socialhouse in Fort St. John — the local branch of a Canadian steakhouse chain with restaurants in B.C., Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario — is running a ‘jacket drive’ in partnership with the Fort St. John Women’s Resource Society.

The drive, which began on October 6th, allows diners to bring new or gently used winter jackets to the restaurant, located at 9719 100th Street, and receive 50 per cent off their entree.

According to Sandra Raymond, a manager at the restaurant, jackets of all sizes — including those meant for kids — are being accepted.

“I would hope that we would have more than 200 jackets [at the end],” Raymond added, “because I think we had about 200 last time.”

The coat drive runs until November 3rd.
