Caffeination Station co-founder shares tax troubles and turnaround in social media videos
According to Caffeination Station co-founder Jessica Davenport, the business owed $49,000 worth of unpaid GST.

TAYLOR, B.C. — A Taylor coffee stand owner’s videos about her business’s financial struggles, and a surprise birthday turnaround, have drawn attention online.
Jessica Davenport, co-founder of Caffeination Station, took to social media on September 26th to share that the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) had frozen her business’s bank account over $49,000 in unpaid GST.
In the video posted to TikTok, Davenport detailed the business’s financial history, tracing its challenges back to its opening 11 years ago. She explained that while the company had paid back rent, income tax and its federal COVID-19 support loan, the unpaid GST remained unresolved, leading to the CRA’s action.
“We owe $49,000 to the Canadian government for back taxes, specifically for GST that was left unpaid between the years of 2021 and 2025,” Davenport said in the video. “As of Friday last week, they have seized control of my bank account.”
She added that the coffee shop would continue operating while working with both the CRA and its bank to find a solution.
In a statement to Energeticcity.ca, CRA spokesperson Charles Drouin said the CRA typically works with taxpayers to resolve their debts before considering legal action.
“Recognizing that financial difficulties can arise, the CRA works with taxpayers to establish payment arrangements tailored to their ability to pay,” Drouin said.Â

“However, the CRA takes firm action against individuals or businesses that avoid paying outstanding amounts.”
Just a week later, on October 3rd, Davenport posted an update video sharing much happier news: her bank account had been unfrozen on her birthday.
“The CRA unlocked my bank account for my birthday,” she said in a cheerful tone.Â
“Not only did they do that, but yesterday, our local credit union, Beem Credit Union, got a hold of me to tell me that they have also approved us for financing to cover the sum of this loan.”
Davenport thanked viewers and community members for their support during what she called “two very, very stressful weeks.”
