FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Below are the latest sentences handed down from the Fort St. John and Fort Nelson Provincial Courts between September 22nd and 25th.

Fort St. John Provincial Court sentencing, September 22nd

Vinson Devin Bedier (born 1970):

Bedier was found guilty of assault, being in a dwelling-house without a lawful excuse and breaching an undertaking for incidents that took place in Fort St. John in July 2023. 

Bedier was issued three suspended sentences, where the accused is given conditions to follow, as well as $300 in victim surcharges, which go towards helping the victims of a crime. Bedier was also ordered to pay $1,000 in restitution, which requires the offender to pay the victim for financial losses the victim suffered because of the crime.

Robert Douglas O’Neill Featherstone (born 1988):

Featherstone was found guilty of assault for an incident in Fort St. John on November 29th, 2024. Featherstone was issued a conditional discharge, a 24-month probation order and a $100 victim surcharge. A conditional discharge means the record won’t show a conviction if Featherstone meets the conditions the judge sets.

Travis Bradley Kelly (born 1985):

Kelly was issued a $500 recognizance after the allegation following an incident in Fort St. John on October 7th, 2024. If Kelly fails to follow the conditions laid out by the court, they must pay the $500.

Nathan Philip L Roy (born 1989):

Roy was found guilty of driving a motor vehicle without due care or attention for an incident in Wonowon on September 16th, 2023. Roy was issued a $1,500 fine, $225 victim surcharge and 12-month driving prohibition.

Fort Nelson Provincial Court sentencing, September 22nd

Sonny John Capot Blanc (born 2001):

Capot Blanc was found guilty of driving without a licence for an incident in Fort Nelson on November 30th, 2024. Capot Blanc was issued a $750 fine and a $113 victim surcharge.

Fort Nelson Provincial Court sentencing, September 23rd

John Wayne Douglas McCallum (born 1970):

McCallum was found guilty of impaired operation by alcohol or drugs for an incident in Fort Nelson on March 31st, 2021. McCallum was issued a $2,000 fine, a $600 victim surcharge and a one-year driving prohibition.

Fort Nelson Provincial Court sentencing, September 24th

Riley Earl Stanley Burke (born 1994):

Burke was found guilty of assault causing bodily harm, forcible entry, assault with a weapon, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm and breach of a release order. These charges came from incidents in Fort Nelson between March and June 2025.

In addition to jail time served, Burke was issued five 24-month probation orders, $300 in victim surcharges, a five-year firearm prohibition, ordered to report for DNA sample collection and subjected to forfeiture, which allows the government to seize property and assets ‘tainted’ by crime.
