FSJ Hospital Foundation welcomes longtime nurse and community supporter to board
Shelley Gallinger, who has three decades of experience in local healthcare as a nurse, is joining the FSJ Hospital Foundation’s board.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The Fort St. John Hospital Foundation has welcomed Shelley Gallinger to its board of directors.
Gallinger, a lifelong resident of northern B.C., brings more than three decades of experience in local healthcare to the role. According to the FSJ Hospital Foundation, she worked as a nurse in Fort St. John for over 30 years, much of that time at the birthing centre.
The FSJ Hospital Foundation is a charity dedicated to raising funds to improve patient care in local facilities. Earlier this month, the foundation purchased an ActiV.A.C., a machine that is used to help patients with complex wounds.
The hospital foundation said Gallinger’s career gave her firsthand experience with the impact of equipment funded by the foundation, such as electric beds, IV pumps, and vital monitors.
According to the foundation, that experience has “shaped her deep appreciation of the foundation’s role in enhancing patient care in our community.”
Gallinger and her husband Doug have raised their three children in Fort St. John and have been active volunteers in youth sports and community programs, the foundation said. For more than 20 years, they have also supported the FSJ Hospital Foundation through donations, fundraising events and campaigns.
The FSJ Hospital Foundation stated that since 2000, the couple has contributed nearly $75,000 to the organization through barbecues, till drives and by hosting the Have a Heart Radiothon. In 2023, the Gallingers were recognized with the Janet Taylor Award for Home Hardware Building Centre’s long-standing support.
