FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Save-On-Foods is dusting off an old tradition this weekend to raise money for a children’s hospital.

On Sunday, September 14th, the Fort St. John store will host a ‘Pie in the Face’ fundraiser in support of the BC Children’s Hospital, running from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“For a $5 donation, you can smack me in the face with a pie plate of whipped cream, or one of the other managers or volunteers,” Tyler Arrance, a supervisor at the store, shared on Facebook. “There’s no shortage of people looking forward to giving me my ‘just desserts.’”

For those looking for a smaller challenge, a $2 donation lets participants spin a prize wheel for points or small prizes. A barbecue by donation will also be set up outside the store.

“Save-On is putting the FUN back in fundraising,” said Arrance. “It’s been a decade since our last one, can’t wait to see people there.”

In addition to raising funds for the BC Children’s Hospital, organizers will also be collecting food donations for the Fort St. John Women’s Resource Society, which reported a shortage last month.
