Virtual clinic still down as hospital warns of wait times strain in Fort St. John

Northern Health is still working to restore the its Virtual Clinic, and is also warning Fort St. John residents of increased wait times at the local hospital.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Northern Health is still grappling with a server outage at the Northern Health Virtual Clinic.

According to a statement issued to Energeticcity.ca by Northern Health, IT services are currently working to “address the issue,” and “some functionality” has been restored. 

The Northern Health Virtual Clinic outage was first announced at approximately 10 a.m. on August 25th.

Northern Health updated its initial Facebook post at 6 a.m. on August 26th to explain that clinic staff “continue to experience difficulties accessing the clinical information database.” 

The health authority stated it would provide another update to the public when services were back to normal operations. 

Northern Health also noted it would call all patients who miss appointments due to the outage to rebook once services have been restored.

This comes as, at approximately 10:45 a.m., Northern Health posted on Facebook to warn patients the Fort St. John Hospital was experiencing “higher than usual” patient numbers and wait times in “various departments including emergency.”

Residents requiring emergency medical attention are still encouraged to call 911 or visit their local emergency room.
