DAWSON CREEK, B.C. — Four people were arrested this week in Dawson Creek following RCMP investigations into stolen vehicle reports.

According to RCMP media relations officer Madonna Saunderson, on August 19th, the Beaverlodge detachment informed officers in Dawson Creek about an alleged stolen Ford F350 with a suspected driver in the city.

The vehicle was reportedly involved in a hit-and-run incident in Demmitt, Alberta at roughly 3:30 p.m. that day.

Later, at 2 a.m. on August 20th, Dawson Creek RCMP officers claim they located the vehicle with three occupants inside.

After its occupants allegedly attempted to drive away, officers say they deployed a spike trap, deflating three of the vehicle’s tires and leading to an hour-long low-speed pursuit.

Afterwards, three people were arrested. Later that same day, officers say they received another call from a Dawson Creek resident who claimed he had found his own stolen Toyota truck with a man sleeping inside.

“Dispatch advised the owner not to approach the occupant,” Saunderson said. “The owner confronted the driver who threatened him and fled.”

The truck was reportedly later recovered by police and a man was arrested and charged with possession of stolen property, possession of a prohibited weapon and uttering threats.

All four arrested individuals have since had bail hearings. One man and one woman were released, while two men were remanded into custody. None of the four were named by police.
