Grande Prairie Rural RCMP arrest Dawson Creek resident

DAWSON CREEK, B.C. — A Dawson Creek resident has been charged as part of an alleged drug bust by the Grande Prairie Rural RCMP detachment.

According to a press release from the detachment — which serves the County of Grande Prairie, rather than the city that shares its name — officers received a call on August 9th at 7:41 a.m. about a man slumped over the wheel in a vehicle in the middle of the road.

Police attended the scene and reportedly found the vehicle, with a man “heavily asleep at the wheel” and with drug paraphernalia in plain view.

A search of the vehicle allegedly uncovered the following:

$2,080 in Canadian dollars
99 grams of suspected methamphetamine
19 grams of suspected fentanyl
A loaded crossbow
A flamethrower
A prohibited knife
Various other drug trafficking paraphernalia

Some of the drugs listed above were reportedly stored in a backpack with a label that read “support your local drug dealer.”

A man — 40-year-old Dawson Creek resident Fraser Pearson — was arrested.

Pearson was ultimately charged with the following:

Possession for the purpose of trafficking – fentanyl
Possession for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine
Unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon
Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
Two counts of failure to comply with a probation order
Two counts of weapon possession contrary to an order

Pearson was remanded into police custody, and later went on to appear in court on August 11th. Energeticcity.ca has contacted a representative from Alberta Court and Justice Services to learn more about the hearing and will update this story as new information becomes available.
