Dawson Creek Exhibition and Stampede wraps up for 2025

The Dawson Creek Exhibition and Stampede 2025 took place from August 6th to 10th, and featured an agricultural fair, chuckwagon races and professional rodeo.

DAWSON CREEK, B.C. — Billed as “the greatest show in the Peace,” the Dawson Creek Exhibition and Stampede wrapped up this weekend.

The event, which took place from Wednesday, August 6th to Sunday, August 10th, featured an agricultural fair, chuckwagon races and professional rodeo.

The five-day event’s rodeo was sanctioned by the Canadian Pro Rodeo Association (CPRA) and had events in bareback riding, barrel racing, bull riding, breakaway roping, saddle bronc, steer wrestling, team roping, tie down and junior steer riding with a total purse of $122,927.13 up for grabs, according to the CPRA’s website.

Samuel Petersen took the bareback competition with a score of 86 points, while Logan Hay took the saddle bronc with a score of 88 points.

Other winners included Auzyn Corr (bull riding), Tatum Wilson (breakaway roping), Pacean Deleeuw (steer wrestling), Steele DePaoli (tie down roping), Pamela Morrison (barrel racing).

Cecil Baynton (junior steer wrestling) and a tie between Brody Groves/Cody Tew and Levi Simpson/Kasper Roy (team roping).

In the chuckwagon competition, the ‘Battle of the North’ sanctioned by the World Professional Chuckwagon Association (WPCA) races were done over four days of heats with total aggregate time leading to a final heat to declare the victor.

Chance Bensmiller took the victory in the final, his second since 2008, followed by overall aggregate leader Chanse Vigen. Bensmiller finished the last race on Sunday, August 10th in a time of one minute, 13.71 seconds.

The event also featured a ranch rodeo, with competitors in events such as livestock sorting, doctoring, branding, stray gathering, wild cow milking, ranch saddle bronc, and more.

The Dawson Creek Exhibition and Stampede took place from Wednesday, August 6th to Sunday, August 10th in Dawson Creek.

A guy who found his calling later in life, Edward Hitchins is a professional storyteller with a colourful and extensive history.

Beginning his journey into journalism in 2012 at Seneca College, Edward also graduated from Humber College with an Advanced Diploma in Print and Broadcast Journalism in 2018.  After time off from his career and venturing into other vocations, he started his career proper in 2022 in Campbell River, B.C.

In a way, he hopes this position will allow both himself and Energeticcity to grow as a collective unit as his career moves forward and evolves into the next step.
