FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Below are the latest sentences handed down from the Fort St. John, Dawson Creek and Chetwynd Provincial Courts between August 5th and 8th.

Dawson Creek Provincial Court sentencing, August 5th

Michael James Joshua Pearson (born 1998):

Pearson was found guilty of theft $5,000 or under, assault and breach of an undertaking for incidents in Fort St. John in September 2024 and March 2025.

Pearson was sentenced to a total of 24 days in jail, in addition to time already served. They also received three 12-month probation orders and two 10-year firearm prohibitions.

Fort St. John Provincial Court sentencing, August 6th

Alexee Anne Inch (born 1996):

Inch was found guilty of assault for an incident in Hudson’s Hope on February 25th, 2025. Inch was issued a 12-month probation order and a conditional discharge, which means the record won’t show a conviction if Inch meets the conditions the judge sets.

Fort St. John Provincial Court sentencing, August 7th

Jayfre Narito Santos (born 1986):

Santos was issued a recognizance after the allegation, where the accused is given conditions to follow, for an incident that allegedly took place in Fort St. John on March 1st, 2024.

Kim Phakphum Truchon (born 1996):

Truchon was found guilty of criminal harassment and assault for incidents in Fort St. John and Dawson Creek that took place in August 2024. 

Truchon was issued 180 days of a conditional sentence, which is a sentence to be served outside of jail under strict conditions, sometimes called ‘house arrest.’

Truchon also received two 18-month probation orders and was ordered to pay $200 in victim surcharges, which go towards helping the victims of a crime.

Chetwynd Provincial Court sentencing, August 7th

Tanya Lorraine Lane (born 1979):

Lane was found guilty of taking and/or occupying a vehicle without the owner’s consent, driving while prohibited and/or with a suspended licence and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm for incidents in Chetwynd that took place in December 2024 and January 2025.

Lane was issued a suspended sentence, two 15-month probation orders, a $500 fine, a $75 victim surcharge and a 12-month driving prohibition.

Fort St. John Provincial Court sentencing, August 8th

Raylene Dawn Apsassin (born 1987):

Apsassin was found guilty of driving while prohibited and/or with a suspended licence for an incident in Doig River that took place on August 12th, 2023.

Apsassin was issued a $500 fine, a $75 victim surcharge and a one-year driving prohibition.

Dawson Creek Provincial Court sentencing, August 8th

Vincent Casey Calahaison (born 1965):

Calahaison was found guilty of impaired operation by alcohol or drugs, breaching a probation order and three counts of breaching a release order for incidents in Dawson Creek that took place between January 2023 and November 2024.

Calahaison was issued conditional sentences adding up to 36 months, as well as three 18-month probation orders, $500 in victim surcharges and a one-year driving prohibition.

Samuel Charles Laforest-Hotton (born 1996):

Laforest-Hotton was found guilty of assault for an incident in Dawson Creek on August 3rd, 2024. Laforest-Hotton was issued a 12-month conditional sentence and a $100 victim surcharge.
