New classrooms under construction at Fort St. John school
Construction is underway on 200 new seats in eight new classrooms at Fort St. John’s Dr. Kearney Middle School.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Construction is underway on eight new classrooms at a Fort St. John school.
This will bring 200 new seats to Dr. Kearney Middle School, which is part of School District 60 in the Peace River North region.
“The eight classrooms will be a welcome addition to the building, the district and the community,” said Angela Telford, secretary-treasurer for School District 60.
“Building capacity within our schools means more than just adding space; it means creating better opportunities for students to learn and thrive.”
The project is part of the Ministry of Infrastructure’s K-12 school capital projects, a $119 million provincial investment to expand classroom space at seven schools across B.C.
Construction at Dr. Kearney is expected to be complete by late 2025.
“Communities across the province are growing, and with that comes the urgent need for more schools and more classroom space,” said Bowinn Ma, minister of infrastructure.
