88mm of rain falls near Fort Nelson in 24 hours, Environment Canada reports

Nearly 90 millimetres of rainfall was reported in parts of the Northern Rockies region on July 24th.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Nearly 90 millimetres of rainfall was reported in parts of the Northern Rockies region yesterday.

According to a new weather summary from Environment Canada, the cause of the heavy rain in northeastern B.C. on Thursday, July 24th was a weather system extending from Alberta.

In particular, according to the summary, the Nelson Forks forestry region near Fort Nelson received 88 millimetres of rainfall over the course of 24 hours.

Environment Canada’s current forecast for the Fort Nelson area includes further showers throughout the day, alongside thunderstorms in some areas.

Rain and possible thunderstorms are also in the forecast for Fort St. John and Dawson Creek.
