Environment Canada has issued a thunderstorm warning for the Peace region on July 23rd, with strong winds, large hail and heavy rain expected.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for the Peace River region.

Environment Canada issued an alert at 10:40 a.m. on July 23rd, saying “conditions are favourable” throughout the day for severe thunderstorm development, which can produce strong winds, large hail and heavy rain.

The weather conditions could affect areas such as Fort St. John, Dawson Creek, Chetwynd, Tumbler Ridge and more.

According to the agency, strong winds may possibly damage trees, buildings and vehicles.

Environment Canada advises residents to stay indoors during thunderstorms, as lightning does cause fatalities every year. 

Severe weather can be reported by emailing BCstorm@ec.gc.ca or posting reports on X (Twitter) using #BCStorm.
