Bail hearing for man charged in FSJ shooting investigation set for mid-July

A man facing several charges following his arrest in Fort St. John in May now has a hearing scheduled for next week.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — A man facing several charges following his arrest in Fort St. John in May now has a hearing scheduled for next week.

Kelly Shular was arrested on May 12th following a series of three alleged shootings that were investigated by the local RCMP detachment.

Officers at the time claimed Shular was connected to the first of the three shootings.

Shular is facing charges of breaking and entering and committing an indictable offence, using a firearm to commit an indictable offence, possessing a firearm contrary to an order, storage of a firearm contrary to regulations and possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

According to Court Services Online (CSO), Shular now has a bail hearing to discuss a judicial interim release scheduled for Tuesday, July 15th.

Shular also reportedly had a scheduling hearing to fix a trial date on July 3rd. CSO doesn’t show the results of that hearing.

According to a representative from the BC Prosecution Service, the matter was adjourned and will be heard as part of the July 15th bail hearing.
