Video – Watch crews tear down Veronica Apartments following devastating fire

The Veronica Apartments complex in Fort St. John has been torn down, months after being engulfed in a fire in April.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The Veronica Apartments complex in Fort St. John is being torn down after a fire left the building in an unlivable state. 

Energeticcity.ca observed the complex being dismantled with a construction excavator and another individual spraying a substance on the wreckage. 

On April 18th, the apartment complex became completely engulfed in flames soon after two people were injured in a shooting.

The RCMP said at the time that their initial investigations indicate the person responsible for the shooting set the building ablaze before driving his vehicle into the fire. He was later found dead inside the car.

Crews are working on scene and there are warning signs about asbestos.

A GoFundMe was also set up for two victims of the shooting and fire.

The complex is located in the 9800 block of 103rd Avenue.

Energeticcity.ca reached out to the City of Fort St. John’s communications manager Ryan Harvey and the local fire department for more information but did not immediately receive a response.
