Grande Prairie extends evacuation alerts and orders
The County of Grande Prairie has expanded evacuation alerts and orders due to the Kiskatinaw River wildfire.

GRANDE PRAIRIE, ALTA. — Evacuation alerts and orders have been expanded in Grande Prairie due to the Kiskatinaw River wildfire.
On June 8th, the County of Grande Prairie announced its evacuation orders and alerts due to the Kiskatinaw River wildfire were being expanded.
The expanded evacuation order now applies to the following areas:
- North of Township Road 700 to Highway 43
- East of the British Columbia/Alberta border to Range Road 130
Evacuees are advised to report to the Hythe Community Library at 10012 100th Street, where staff will assign accommodation. Reception staff will be available to support evacuees until 12 a.m. and will re-open at 9 a.m. on June 9th.
The evacuation alert now applies to the following areas:
- North of Township Road 710 and Highway 43 to Township Road 752
- East of Range Road 130 to Range Road 124
Latest Stories
People living in the areas covered by the alert do not need to evacuate yet, but should prepare to leave at a moment’s notice if required.
According to the announcement, Highway 43 remains open at this time.
