Grande Prairie County evacuation alert expands as Kiskatinaw River wildfire rages
Residents of parts of the County of Grande Prairie are being placed under an expanded evacuation alert due to the Kiskatinaw River wildfire.
GRANDE PRAIRIE ALTA. — An evacuation alert has been expanded in Grande Prairie due to the Kiskatinaw River wildfire.Â
As of 11:30 a.m. on June 6th, the County of Grande Prairie has expanded its evacuation alert and order areas due to the Kiskatinaw River wildfire.Â
People living in the areas covered by the alert do not need to evacuate yet, but should prepare to leave at a moment’s notice if required.

The wildfire around the community of Kelly Lake has grown to burn 11,903 hectares, with spot fires – small fires that start from embers – also starting on the Alberta side of the border.Â
The evacuation alert has now expanded to include all residents south of Township Road 710 to 700 east of the British Columbia border to Range Road 130.
Residents north of Township Road 710 to Township Road 740 and east of the BC/Alberta border to Range Road 130 remain under evacuation alert as well.
