Fort St. John, Dawson Creek, Chetwynd break temperature records set decades ago
Environment Canada is reporting temperatures in Fort St. John, Dawson Creek and Chetwynd broke records on May 28th.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Temperatures in Fort St. John, Dawson Creek and Chetwynd climbed so high yesterday they broke records previously set in the 1930s.
According to Environment Canada’s weather summary for May 28th, Fort St. John set a record of 30.4 C.
Meanwhile, Dawson Creek set a record of 31.9 C.
Both of those city’s previous weather temperature records were 30 C and set in 1936.
The District of Chetwynd also set a new record of 30.6 C, with the previous record being 30.1 C in 2005.
Fort St. John, Dawson Creek and Chetwynd previously set new heat day records on September 5th, 2024.
Environment Canada defines a day record as the highest recorded temperature for a specific day, which can be compared to previous temperatures on that same day from previous years.
