FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Below are the latest sentences handed down from the Fort St. John and Dawson Creek Provincial Courts between May 19th and 23rd.

Dawson Creek Provincial Court sentencing, May 20th

Dennis Wayne Liddle (born 1987):

Liddle was found guilty of assault by choking for an incident in Dawson Creek on March 8th, 2025. 

Liddle was issued an absolute discharge: the accused was found guilty, but no conviction was registered, and there are no conditions to follow.

However, Liddle was sentenced to 255 days in jail, and received a 24-month probation order, a ten-year firearm prohibition and was ordered to report for DNA sample collection.

John William Junior Ominayak (born 1983):

Ominayak was found guilty of possessing a firearm without a licence and/or registration and possessing a firearm contrary to an order for an incident in Dawson Creek on January 19th, 2025.

Ominayak was sentenced to a combined total of 176 days in jail and received a lifetime firearm prohibition, two 12-month probation orders and was ordered to report for DNA sample collection.

Deserea Elizabeth Lorraine Williams (born 1980):

Williams was found guilty of fraud for an incident in Dawson Creek on January 29th, 2024. Williams was issued a suspended sentence, where the accused is given conditions to follow, alongside a 12-month probation order.

Fort St. John Provincial Court sentencing, May 21st

Shane Michael Brady (born 1978):

Brady was issued a $500 recognizance after the allegation for an incident in Fort St. John that took place on February 29th, 2024. If Brady fails to follow the conditions laid out by the court, they will need to pay the $500.

Fort St. John Provincial Court sentencing, May 23rd

Riley Goldsmith (no birth date listed):

Goldsmith was issued a $500 recognizance after the allegation for an incident in Fort St. John that took place on September 22nd, 2024. If Goldsmith fails to follow the conditions laid out by the court, they will need to pay the $500.

Bradley Curtis Hodgins (born 1964):

Hodgins was found guilty of driving while prohibited and/or with a suspended licence. Hodgins was issued a $500 fine and a $75 victim surcharge, which goes towards helping the victims of a crime.

John Robert Beattie (born 1970):

Beattie was found guilty of assault causing bodily harm, pointing a firearm and possessing a firearm contrary to an order for an incident in Fort St. John on September 14th, 2024.

Beattie was sentenced to a combined total of 961 days of jail time. Beattie was also issued three two-year probation orders, ordered to report for DNA sample collection and subjected to forfeiture, which allows the government to seize property and assets “tainted” by crime.
