FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — A local bull rider made it a clean sweep of Professional Bull Riders (PBR) Canada events in Manitoba.

Fresh off his win at a PBR Touring Pro Event in Dauphin, Manitoba on Thursday, May 22nd, Fort St. John’s Jake Gardner headed south to Brandon to participate in the PBR Canada Cup Series’ Mazergroup Chute Out.

He got off to a great start, riding bull Red Rust for a score of 84 points to reach second place after the opening round.

Gardner then grabbed the lead the following round after riding Kraken to a score of 86 points on his second ride.

“I knew I was going to get a good score on [Kraken],” said Gardner. “I got to pick the first bull for the finals round.”

For the championship round, the PBR Canada number one-ranked rider chose a familiar animal: Patiently Waiting, the bull Gardner rode en-route to his win in Brandon just 48 hours prior.

“[Patiently Waiting] was on the list,” said Gardner. “Because of my prior success, I went with him. I ended up winning the event by one point.”

The last result was an eight-second ride, garnering a grand total of 256 points at the event over three rides, sealing the victory.

Gardner earned $8,700 and 80 points for the event win. This puts him at 440.17 overall points for 2025, distancing himself by 116 points over second-place Dakota Buttar in the PBR Canada standings.

He told Energeticcity.ca his goal is to qualify for the PBR Canada Finals in November in Edmonton, for a chance at $100,000.

“My plan is to keep going to these PBR Canada events and getting as many points as I can,” said Gardner. “Hopefully, [I will] have a lot of points by the time the finals come and win it all.”

The next PBR Canada Cup event will take place in London, Ontario on June 6th and 7th at Canada Life Place.

However, Gardner will be next in action in Melfort, Saskatchewan, at this week’s Ripley Rumble Canadian Touring Pro event on Saturday, May 31st.
