Horizon North ratifies new contracts with workers, ending strike
Horizon North has officially ended strikes at three of its facilities – Kobes Creek Lodge, CPC Montney Lodge and Attachie Lodge – by ratifying new contracts with its hospitality workers.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Hospitality workers at Horizon North oil and gas camps have ended their strikes after agreeing to ratify new contracts with their employer.
According to a press release from Unite Here Local 40, the union representing Horizon North’s hospitality workers, striking employees at Kobes Creek Lodge, CPC Montney Lodge and Attachie Lodge have all voted unanimously to ratify contracts.
“Workers will see their wages rise by 33.5 per cent by the end of the contracts, making them the top-paid camp hospitality workers in Fort St. John,” the release explains.

“By the end of the contracts, sous chefs at these camps will earn $29.50 per hour, reflecting the essential nature of their work. They also won employer-paid health benefits, retroactive pay and travel pay.”
Workers at the three camps voted in favor of strike action in February and early March. They then issued strike notices to Horizon North in late April.
Horizon North then allegedly went on to lock striking employees at Kobes Creek Lodge out of the facility. Soon after, the company issued a statement to Energeticcity.ca saying it hoped to continue negotiations with all its striking workers.
Horizon North’s camps provide accommodations for workers in the oil and gas industry.
