FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Below are the latest sentences handed down from the Fort St. John, Dawson Creek, Chetwynd and Fort Nelson Provincial Courts between April 28th and May 2nd.

Fort St. John Provincial Court sentencing, April 28th

Spencer Dakota Craig Bell (born 2001):

Bell was found guilty of wilfully resisting or obstructing a peace officer for an incident in Fort St. John on October 29th, 2023. Bell was issued a conditional discharge, an 18-month probation order and a $100 victim surcharge, which goes towards helping the victims of a crime. A conditional discharge means the record won’t show a conviction if a person meets the conditions the judge sets.

Corbyn John Savory Hubley (born 1994):

Hubley was found guilty of breaching a release order, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, driving with a suspended licence, disguising their face with intent to commit an offence, possession of stolen property over $5,000 and two counts of breaking and entering and committing an indictable offence, for incidents in Fort St. John that took place between September 2021 and December 2024.

Hubley was sentenced to a combined total of 98 days in jail in addition to time served. Hubley was also issued a $500 fine and a $75 victim surcharge.

Fort Nelson Provincial Court sentencing, April 28th

Isaiah Edward Behn (born 1984):

Behn was found guilty of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, mischief under $5,000 and breaching a non-communication order for incidents in Fort Nelson that took place between January and September of 2024. 

Behn was sentenced to a combined total of 126 days of jail time and received three 12-month probation orders.

Fort St. John Provincial Court sentencing, April 29th

Andrew Mark Bell (born 1993):

Bell was found guilty of driving an uninsured vehicle or trailer for an incident in Fort St. John on December 1st, 2023. Bell was issued a $598 fine and a $90 victim surcharge.

Dawson Creek Provincial Court sentencing, April 29th

Allan Matthew Courtorielle (born 1969):

Courtorielle was found guilty of theft $5,000 or under, mischief $5,000 or under and driving while disqualified under the Canadian Criminal Code for an incident in Fellers Heights on February 10th, 2024.

Courtorielle was issued three 12-month conditional sentences and three one-year driving prohibitions. A conditional sentence is a sentence to be served outside of jail under strict conditions, sometimes called “house arrest.” 

Brian William Dunnill (born 1981):

Dunnill was issued a zero-dollar recognizance after the allegation following an incident in Dawson Creek on December 9th, 2024. Dunnill was given conditions to follow by the court.

Fort Nelson Provincial Court sentencing, April 29th

William Lloyd Kotchea (born 1969):

Kotchea was found guilty of driving while prohibited and/or with a suspended licence for an incident in Fort Nelson on October 10th, 2024. Kotchea was issued a $500 fine, a $75 victim surcharge and a 12-month driving prohibition.

Maxwell David Lane (born 1994):

Lane was found guilty of driving while prohibited and/or with a suspended licence for an incident in Fort Nelson on December 27th, 2024. Lane was issued a $500 fine, a $75 victim surcharge and a 12-month driving prohibition.

Fort Nelson Provincial Court sentencing, April 30th

Doreen Marie Gervais (born 1968):

Gervais was issued a $250 recognizance after the allegation following an incident in Prophet River that took place on April 18th, 2024. If Gervais fails to follow the conditions laid out by the court, they will need to pay the $250.

Chetwynd Provincial Court sentencing, May 1st

Jonathan Michael Ronald Ganson (born 1997):

Ganson was issued a $500 recognizance after the allegation following an incident in Chetwynd that took place on May 20th, 2024. If Ganson fails to follow the conditions laid out by the court, they will need to pay the $500.

Franklin Albert Hauber (born 1974):

Hauber was found guilty of refusal for an incident in Charlie Lake on September 20th, 2024. Hauber was issued a $2,000 fine and a one-year driving prohibition.

Alaric Jaimi Michael Hills (born 1980):

Hills was found guilty of assault for an incident in Chetwynd on August 24th, 2024. Hills was issued a conditional discharge and a one-year probation order.

Matthew Alexander Johnson (born 1993):

Johnson was issued a $500 recognizance after the allegation following an incident in Chetwynd that took place on January 20th, 2025. If Johnson fails to follow the conditions laid out by the court, they will need to pay the $500.

Fort Nelson Provincial Court sentencing, May 1st

Barry Alan Bertrand (born 1967):

Bertrand was found guilty of breaching an undertaking for an incident in Fort Nelson on February 11th, 2025. Bertrand was issued a $250 fine.

Nile Peder David Sinnes (born 1984):

Sinnes was found guilty of hunting, taking, trapping, wounding and/or killing an animal out of season for an incident in Fort Nelson on October 3rd, 2022. Sinnes was issued a $1 fine, a $0.15 victim surcharge and subjected to forfeiture, which allows the government to seize property and assets “tainted” by crime.

Dawson Creek Provincial Court sentencing, May 2nd

Jacob Victor Dennis (born 1989):

Dennis was found guilty of possession of stolen property under $5,000, possession and/or use of a stolen credit card, driving while disqualified under the Canadian Criminal Code and carrying a weapon or prohibited device and/or ammo concealed, for an incident in Fort St. John on June 1st, 2024.

Dennis was sentenced to one day of jail in addition to time served and received a 12-month probation order, a lifetime firearm prohibition and subjected to forfeiture.

Taeryin Guhloldt (born 1989):

Guhloldt was found guilty of mischief $5,000 or under for an incident in Dawson Creek on June 15th, 2024. Guhloldt was sentenced to one day in jail in addition to time served.
