North Peace Minor Baseball loses equipment in blaze one day before season starts

North Peace Minor Baseball has posted on Facebook to report its equipment shed has burned down.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — A Fort St. John minor baseball league has suffered a fire this weekend. 

On April 27th, North Peace Minor Baseball posted on Facebook to report its equipment shed had burned down. 

It reportedly lost bases, umpire gear, chalk machines, pitching machines and other “miscellaneous maintenance gear” in the blaze, and all only one day before its season begins.

However, the league confirmed to Energeticcity.ca it had received donations from the community to help cover the costs of replacing the lost equipment.

“All of our equipment is on order and we shouldn’t see any delays,” the post read. “[We] can’t thank you all enough for all of the support.

“As much as this is frustrating, there are some amazing people in this city.”

The league encouraged anyone with information about the incident to contact the RCMP.
