Substance abuse prevention webinars coming in April and May

The ‘Creating a Substance Use Prevention Plan’ webinar with Open Parachute’s Dr. Hayley Watson will teach attendees how to prevent substance abuse in the household.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Parents, guardians and other family members are invited to a free webinar on creating a step-by-step plan to prevent substance abuse in the household. 

The ‘Creating a Substance Use Prevention Plan’ webinar is hosted in partnership with adolescent clinical psychologist Dr. Hayley Watson and the Ministry of Education and Child Care.

The free event focuses on creating a personalized step-by-step plan for substance use prevention skills and includes a 30-minute Q&A session with Dr. Watson.

Attendants will take a variety of lessons away from the webinar:

  • Developing the skills that help prevent children from using substances.
  • Learning how to navigate the challenges while teaching the skills to your children.
  • Increasing the ability for parents to support themselves and their children.

Dr. Watson has been creating global youth programs for 20 years and is also the founder of Open Parachute, an organization of clinical psychologists, program developers, educators, filmmakers and storytellers to create new and engaging programs for students, parents and teachers.

A total of three sessions will be held on April 29th, May 7th and May 8th. All sessions will be from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
