PRRD wins sixth consecutive financial reporting award

The Peace River Regional District has been awarded its sixth consecutive Canadian Award for Financial Reporting for its 2023 annual report.

DAWSON CREEK, B.C. — The Peace River Regional District (PRRD) has received its sixth consecutive award for financial reporting. 

On April 17th, the PRRD announced that it received the Canadian Award for Financial Reporting for its 2023 annual financial report. 

“We’re happy to receive this award for the sixth consecutive year because it shows our ongoing commitment to financial transparency and accessibility of information,” said PRRD board chair Leonard Hiebert.

“Our finance and communication teams have maintained excellence in creating clear, comprehensive annual financial reports that go beyond basic requirements to ensure that information is understandable and interesting for our residents.”

The award is given by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA).

According to the district, the 2023 financial reports for the fiscal year ended on December 31st, 2023, and was completed and audited in spring 2024.

The report was then submitted to the GFOA for award consideration in June 2024. 

The GFOA award committee reviewed the PRRD for nine months before it finally awarded the honour in April 2025.
