‘First Lady of Taylor’ is Pita Pit Teacher of the Month
Sheena Taillefer of Taylor Elementary School is Pita Pit’s April Teacher of the Month for her role in helping first year students.

TAYLOR, B.C. — A kindergarten teacher at Taylor Elementary School, has been selected as Pita Pit’s Teacher of the Month for April due to her “major role” in helping students in their first year of school.
“I’m very honoured, and it’s a big privilege,” said Sheena Taillefer.
“As a kindergarten teacher, I recognize that it is a privilege that people trust me to take care of their babies for the entire day.”
The nominated teacher is also the wife of Brent Taillefer, the current mayor of the Taylor district.
“Technically, I’m the First Lady of Taylor,” Taillefer joked.
According to Taillefer’s nomination letter, she goes “above and beyond” for her students, which plays a major role in their first year of school.
“Sheena makes all the kids feel at home, safe and welcomed in her class, my kids have always spoken good things about her and say she’s the best teacher ever,” the letter read.

Taillefer said her job is hard but very rewarding, especially when receiving gratitude from parents.
“Teaching is a job that is a lot of work, but at the same time it’s very rewarding and it’s just always nice to be recognized,” said Taillefer.
Taillefer shows her dedication by making “mommy and me” bracelets for the children left in her care and an annual project, growing vegetables in a tower garden, which helps students learn about plant life cycles.
“We watch the plants grow and then we usually harvest it, and the students will help cut up the vegetables and then we make a salad and share it with the class,” Taillefer explained.
Taillefer also manages to do her job while raising three children: Maizy (13), Hank (11) and Hazel (nine).
Congratulations to Sheena Taillefer for being named April’s Pita Pit Teacher of the Month.
The monthly event is part of Moose Media and Pita Pit Canada’s mission to honour the teachers in the community.
Each month, the winner will receive a gift card worth up to $100 at Pita Pit and be highlighted in an article on Energeticcity.ca.
