Alaska Highway closes west of Fort Nelson due to ‘fuel spill’

The Alaska Highway between Fort Nelson and the Liard River is currently closed at kilometre 668, north of Toad River, west of Fort Nelson.

FORT NELSON, B.C. — Motorists driving towards the Yukon are being advised that the Alaska Highway is closed between Fort Nelson and the Liard River.

Highway 97 is currently closed in both directions at kilometre 668, north of Toad River, 190km west of Fort Nelson.

According to Public Services and Procurement Canada’s road report, the cause of the closure is a “fuel spill.”
