Chili Bowl Bash to return to Fort St. John in June

Hosted by the North Peace Potters’ Guild, Fort St. John’s annual Chili Bowl Bash is set to return in June 2025.

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — Summer just isn’t summer without the annual trip to a chili cook-off event, and Fort St. John is no exception.

Registration has begun for the Chili Bowl Bash 2025 in June, hosted by the North Peace Potters’ Guild.

According to a Facebook post, the event is “great” for the entire family and will be hosted at Fort St. John’s Festival Plaza.

The post reads attendees can participate as judges in a chili competition. What makes the event different is people can choose a bowl from the Potters’ Guild to taste the chili and take the handmade bowl home.

Desserts, live music and a kids’ pinata will also be a part of the event.

Tickets for the Chili Bowl Bash will be available during the Potters’ Guild Spring Pottery Sale at the Arts Post on 10320 94th Avenue from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 3rd.

The Chili Bowl Bash will take place on Saturday, June 21st from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Festival Plaza at 9523 100th Street.

Proceeds for the Chili Bowl Bash will go toward the pottery studio. Those interested in entering the competition can email chilibowlbash@gmail.com.

A guy who found his calling later in life, Edward Hitchins is a professional storyteller with a colourful and extensive history.

Beginning his journey into journalism in 2012 at Seneca College, Edward also graduated from Humber College with an Advanced Diploma in Print and Broadcast Journalism in 2018.  After time off from his career and venturing into other vocations, he started his career proper in 2022 in Campbell River, B.C.

Edward was attracted to the position of Indigenous Voices reporter with Energeticcity as a challenge.  Having not been around First Nations for the majority of his life, he hopes to learn about their culture through meaningful conversations while properly telling their stories. 

In a way, he hopes this position will allow both himself and Energeticcity to grow as a collective unit as his career moves forward and evolves into the next step.

He looks forward to growing both as a reporter and as a human being while being posted in Fort St. John.
