The Dawson Creek Hospital Auxiliary has launched a new fundraising campaign to raise $19,500 for a Tovertafel, a specialized piece of equipment for dementia patients.

DAWSON CREEK, B.C. — The Dawson Creek Hospital Auxiliary has launched a new fundraising campaign to raise $19,500 for a specialized piece of equipment for dementia patients.
The hospital’s auxiliary posted to Facebook on March 19th announcing a new initiative to raise money for the purchase of a ‘Tovertafel,’ an interactive projector developed by a Dutch scientist to improve dementia patients’ quality of life, for the Rotary Manor long-term care home.
According to the company’s website, the Tovertafel has built-in software dementia patients can use to improve and maintain their mobility and cognitive function.
“We are planning several fundraising activities to raise $19,500 plus taxes for each machine, but since we are a small group of dedicated volunteers we cannot achieve our objective without your help,” a letter from auxiliary president Fern Hansen reads.
“Any donation to our fundraiser would be greatly appreciated. [It] does not matter how big or how small the donation is, each and every donation will put us that much closer to helping our seniors.”
Hansen’s letter also states, in the event the fundraising initiative is “extremely successful,” a second Tovertafel unit will be purchased for the second floor of Rotary Manor.
As of March 20th at 2:30 p.m., donations can be sent via e-transfer to dcaux@pris.ca. Donors can also mail cheques to 11100 13th Street, Dawson Creek, BC V1G 3W1, payable to Dawson Creek Hospital Auxiliary. Tax receipts will be issued for donations greater than $20.
